1. On Tuesday 29 March, Egyptian Esraa Abdel Fattah will give a lecture titled ‘The Role of the Social Media in the 25-January Egyptian Revolution: a Personal Story’ [met dank aan @RE_Orient].

2. Een maand of wat geleden wees een collega mij op Damien Jurado. De NPR heeft een miniconcert op internet gezet. Prachtig.

His purpose is to refute what he calls “cyber-utopianism,” which he defines as “a naïve belief in the emancipatory nature of online communication.” Geweldig boek.

4. Ayaan Hirsi Ali heeft een nieuwe vriend (vanuit Nederlands standpunt gezien): Niall Ferguson. Vanuit wetenschappelijk oogpunt gezien heeft Niall Ferguson een nieuwe vriendin: Ayaan. Enfin: momenteel de meest gelezen en talentvolste historicus over zijn nieuwste boek, Civilization. Het boek is zelfs aan Ayaan opgedragen.
